Religion is the most important part of second grade. This year your child will be preparing for two important sacraments:
First Reconciliation on November 21st
First Communion on April 30th
We begin the year by learning about communities we belong to. Then they learn about their church community and the sacrament of Baptism. We celebrate every child's baptismal day in second grade. The student gets a special cross necklace, we sing a song to them, and they get to share Hershey Kisses with the class.
The students will be learning a lot about the saints. They will have a saint book to bring home at the end of the year with all the saints we learned about.
We will be doing different service projects throughout the year to become closer to Jesus by following His example.
We will go to Mass every Thursday. During the months of October and May the students will be able to say the Rosary every Wednesday. Also during Lent they will go to Stations of the Cross on Wednesdays.
